Psychotherapy FAQs
Q: Are you currently accepting new clients?
A: My availability varies! Please contact me if you’re interested in therapy.
Q: Do you provide virtual or in-person appointments?
A: Currently, I only provide virtual appointments. I may offer in-person appointments in the fall of 2023; stay tuned!
Q: Can I see you for therapy if I live anywhere in the U.S. or outside of the U.S.?
A: Unfortunately, no. Since I am only licensed in the state of Massachusetts, all clients must be in MA at the time of their appointment.
Q: Do you accept insurance?
A: Yes, I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, and Optum plans. If you have another insurance plan and would like to use out-of-network benefits, I can provide you with a billing statement that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Q: What are your private pay rates?
A: Introductory phone call (10-15 minutes): no fee
Introductory session: $200
50-minute session: $175
I accept credit cards and personal checks.
Q: Do you offer a sliding scale?
A: It’s important to me that therapy is accessible to everyone regardless of life circumstances, and I offer sliding scale options for folks who are unable to pay the full fee for whatever reason. Please contact me if you'd like to discuss sliding scale options. For more information about equity-based sliding scale guidelines, check out EmbracingEquity.org.
Q: How will I know if I want to work with you?
A: It's important to feel like you "click" with a therapist and that you feel like your therapist is a good fit for you. I offer a free 10-15 minute introductory phone call where we can chat briefly about what brings you to therapy, what therapy looks like, and what you hope to gain from our time together. I can answer questions and give you a sense of who I am as a therapist. If we feel like we are a good fit for each other, we can schedule an introductory or intake session. Sometimes, it can take folks a few sessions before they know for sure that their therapist is a good match; if at any point you feel like we are not a good match, that's OK! The most important thing is that you find the right therapist for YOU.
Q: What if I have to cancel a session?
A: Your session is a time that both of us have committed to; that said, life happens, and things will come up that can interfere with appointments. If you need to cancel a session, please provide at least 24 hours notice. Without 24 hours notice, the full fee for the session will be charged. Please note that insurance companies do not provide reimbursement for canceled sessions. Emergencies happen, and if you have an emergency or illness, I will waive the cancellation fee—life happens!
Please contact me if you are interested in initiating therapy. I respond to emails within 3-5 business days.
